Nourished Blessings

Anti-Aging Face Oil

I’ve often struggled with dry skin and have always on the hunt for good moisturizing products. Unfortunately, the best products are often crazy expensive and contain a ton of unwanted ingredients, specifically those free containing glutamate.  I always get a little worried about using those products, not only because of my own health, but more specifically because of any reactions they may cause my son from kissing my face.  Because of this, I set off to make my own nourishing and anti-aging moisturizer.  I will add a drop or two of this to my face before bed and/or when applying my powder foundation. My dry skin is only intensifies with cold winter weather and dietary infractions involving dairy, so I will often use this more frequently around those times. One of the biggest changes I’ve noticed from using this, is how much brighter my complexion is from it! I’ll take it!

Ingredients

4 oz. Sweet almond oil or Jojoba oil

5 drops Frankincense essential oil

5 drops Bergamot essential oil

10 drops Calendula oil

10 drops Black Cumin oil

2 tbsp Rosehips

2 tbsp Rosewater

1 tsp Lavender Flowers (dried)

1 tsp Hibiscus (dried)

1 tsp Ashwagandha Root (dried)

1 tsp Chamomile (dried)

Instructions

Preheat oven to 125. Place all ingredients in a small 8oz glass mason jar, allowing the oil to cover the herbs by about one inch, stir and set aside. Using a small ramekin or shallow baking dish, fill with about one inch of water and place in the preheated oven.  Gently place the mason jar of herbs and oil to the oven, allowing it to sit in the middle of the shallow water pan.  Avoid getting any of the water into the mason jar herb/oil mixture.  Bake at 125 for 3-5 hours.  Remove from heat and allow to cool completely. Once cooled, gather a 4 oz dropper bottle, funnel, and cheesecloth.  Place the funnel into a dropper bottle and cut a piece of cheesecloth wide enough to fit inside of the funnel.  Carefully pour herb/oil mixture on top of cheesecloth, allowing for it to filter the oil out of the herbs.  Once most of the oil has filtered through, squeeze remaining herbs in cheesecloth to extract as much oil into the funnel as possible.
