Holidays can be tricky with extended family! This simple recipe doesn’t add any extra stress to the holiday food prep and is a simple way to make a traditional holiday dish a little more healthy. In my opinion, this tastes far better than any canned option out there.


10 oz package fresh or frozen cranberries
1/2 c. Fresh squeezed orange or apple juice
1/3 pure maple syrup or honey (I used maple syrup but honey has less of a glutamate risk)
1/4 tsp fresh orange zest
1/4 tsp Himalayan salt


Add all ingredients to small saucepan on stove top over medium/high heat. Keep at a low boil for 10-15 mins, stirring frequently. Remove from heat. Once cooled, blend with an immersion blender or carefully transferred to a high-powered blender. Blend until smooth or desired consistency. Place in serving dish and garnish with additional orange zest, mint or apple slices. Cinnamon, apples, and/or fresh ginger are good optional add-ins.
