Frequently Used Remedies
Mountain Rose Herbs is our go-to place for organic bulk herbs. While not all of their spices are clean, their whole herbs are. Shipping with them can be expensive, so we try to try for one or two large orders a year. Sage Woman Apothecary- We prefer to source many of our herbal tinctures from Sage Woman Apothecary. While most tinctures are typically made with corn or grain alcohol, Sage tends to use cane alcohol, which would likely be much lower in [...]

Homeopathy
I’ve procrastinated on writing this post about homeopathy because it’s complex and hard to put into words what it is and how it works. I am not a medical professional and this post does not act as medical advice, I am simply sharing our experience with homeopathy thus far (we started homeopathy in January of 2015). Homeopathy has been truly life-changing for our family and our love and appreciation for it continues to grow with time. I can’t tell our [...]
Diet Implementation & Tips
The information shared within this blog has been gathered by a mother, not a physician, and should not act as any form of medical advice. While we quickly implemented diet changes ourselves, I completely understand how overwhelming the process can be. Because this diet can be so overwhelming, I would encourage you to bite off one task or goal at a time, with the intention of truly making it a lifestyle change. However, "wow" changes will [...]
Why Does My Child Do This?
Early on in our journey I found this amazing symptom checklist from, The River to Recovery blog . Unfortunately, it didn't include glutamate or symptoms related to excess glutamate so I was always kind of guessing until I was able to research further. With the creation on the Facebook group, I found many others were looking for the same sort of checklist for glutamate symptoms as well and thus this list was created. The majority of these are based on our personal [...]
Primitive Reflex Integration-MNRI®
Early on in our journey, our Integrative Pediatrician suggested that we try MNRI® or primitive reflex integration therapy. Not being too familiar with it, we held off for three years and proceeded forward with the more traditional therapies, speech therapy, occupational therapy, and physical therapy. While there are other programs that incorporate some use of primitive reflex integration (Brain Balance does, for example), MNRI® stands for Masgutova Neurosensorimotor Reflex Integration, where they use a set of physical patterns to integrate [...]
Three Years Into Our Journey With REID
I struggle with how to describe Dr. Reid's guidelines for the Reid program accurately, all while explaining how we've personally implemented it (initially and currently-which are hugely different). The truth is, our son has come a LONG way since we originally started the "diet." He was once reactive to everything- headbanging from bananas, shaking from grapes, head-to-toe rashes, and aggressive behaviors, which doesn't even touch on his reaction to glutamate. Heck, we also tried to limit fruit to 1/4 a green [...]
